Arbestab N

A novel multifunctional polymer additive

Arbestab N like Arbestab Z is a higher alkyl dithiocarbamate originally developed as a thermal and UV stabiliser for polyolefins. Arbestab N is now finding broader applications in both melt processible and conventionally vulcanised elastomers in arduous environments where high levels of resistance to UV and thermal degradation are required: it is particularly suited to protecting peroxide cross-linked vulcanisates, ECO polymers and PVC/NBR blends under high temperature and UV exposure conditions. Other advantages of using Arbestab N include:

• Effective at low concentrations
• High molar mass at low volatility gives benefit in permanence and extraction resistance
• Excellent compatibility
• High thermal stability
• Greatly mimimise nitrosamine evolution
• Arbestab N synergises most effectively with a commercial benzophenone UV absorber (Cyasorb UV 531) under UV exposure and the combined photostabilisation effect of Arbestab N and UV 531 is significantly higher than any other synergistic systems so far studied

Arbestab Z

Highly recommended for use as a melt stabiliser and thermal antioxidant in a variety of thermoplastic polymers including polymethylmethacrylate. Real benefits are achieved where a high degree of protection is required, under severe processing conditions >260^o C. Arbestab Z is also a moderate light stabiliser, synergising very effectively with other UV absorbers.
